The Next Generation
*Disclaimer- This is not a canon scene. Instead, this will be a short and fun time-skip where you meet the future generation. This doesn't include spoilers on who ends up together, but you get an idea of what some of the future kids are like. This won't directly reveal *all* the children. I have decided to share a small snippet of two newer characters from the series*
*Rosalie and Jack are characters my friend Phillip made. Their appearances, names and personalities were made by him, and he's given me permission to add them into the main story*
The Next Generation
Featuring Rosalie and Jack
By: Emily Grace
A typical day in the Evergreen household always started with a bang. Or more accurately, a loud CRASH!
Today was no different. Rosalie Evergreen never needed to go out and buy an alarm clock. At exactly seven am on the dot, she woke up to the sound of someone falling down the stairs. With a groan, she rolled out of bed and dragged her feet across the tile as she slowly made her way over to the staircase. Still half-asleep, she could barely make out a young teenage boy looking up at her from where he had landed. "That's the third time this week," she grumbled, mostly to herself, as the young boy started to explain how he tripped over his own two feet and kept tumbling down the stairs all by his lonesome. Was he lying? No. That very fact did little to ease Rosalie's mind, however.
"At least you're fully dressed this time. Go in the kitchen and grab something quick to eat. School starts in twenty minutes," she told him while yawning. He smiled at her and zipped past her. "He's going to be the death of me someday," she mumbled while brushing her hair with her fingers. She thought the day couldn't get any worse...but it did when the doorbell rang. "Crap. Am I expecting someone today?"
She ran barefoot to the front door, her thoughts firing at a rapid pace. But when she finally saw who it was, she let out a relieved sigh. "Oh. It's just you." The person on the receiving end looked offended. "Yeah, I'm only the coolest friend and next-door neighbor ever," he said. "Oh, you know I didn't mean it like that," she said as he eyed her up and down. "You just woke up, didn't you?"
"Yeah. So?"
He relented, deciding his reason for coming wasn't to insult or judge her. He had only woken up a little over an hour ago himself. But he wasn't going to admit that to her, either. "Are you going to invite me in or what?" He asked as she sighed. "Yeah, yeah."
Once he went inside, his attention was immediately drawn to the young boy. The kid had his mouth full of cereal and his backpack was lying across the kitchen floor, unzipped. "I see you haven't changed a bit, huh?" He said to the boy. "Nope. He really hasn't," Rosalie quipped. She turned to face him before her son could utter a single word. "So, Jack, what brings you here this morning?"
Jack sighed. "Nothing much, but I don't have work today, so I figured I'd check in on you," he said. "I take it this means Robin didn't cause a scene today?" She asked, not bothering to hide her judgment. "No, not today. Actually, he's been doing well. He hasn't cut class or caused a disruption. Not lately anyway." Rosalie's judgmental stare was replaced by a genuine look of surprise. "Huh. And what about Lana and Jacob?"
"They're both doing good. I can't say the same about your kid, though," he said, pointing at the boy as he tripped over himself on his way to the front door. "Elliot! Your shoes are untied!" She yelled at him. He bent down and quickly tied them standing up. How he managed to do that but never failed to fall down the stairs every morning often made Rosalie question what really went on in her son's mind. Did he not have any braincells? She wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.
"Besides this morning, how has Elliot been doing? He's not getting bullied or anything like that, right?" Jack asked with a hint of concern. Rosalie shook her head. "Oh no, not at all. It's more of the opposite, really. Elliot is quite popular. It makes me wonder if he likes to play dumb with me on purpose. Like it's one big mind game to him..."
"Hmm. That's an interesting theory, but I doubt that's the case. But just because he may play dumb with you, that doesn't mean he doesn't love you."
"Oh, I know. And of course I love him. I just wish he would open up to me more, you know?"
"Yeah. I get that."
[The end].
