River of Sorrows: Synopsis
Felix Carter is cursed. Or so everyone believes. When his sister Caroline mysteriously drowns in the river under Love Bridge on her fourteenth birthday, the police call it an unfortunate accident. But when Felix’s mother suffers the same fate a year later, rumors of the Carter family’s alleged “birthday curse” begin to spread drastically throughout their once quiet little town. Despite all the rumors, Felix refuses to believe any of it is true until his older brother Luis suddenly goes missing on his eighteenth birthday.
Rigel Thomas isn’t
cursed. But he certainly feels that way. When his father, a well-respected
private investigator, drags him along to investigate the Carter family, Rigel
has a fated encounter with someone he thought he’d never see again. Rigel soon
learns, however, that a bitter reunion between an old friend and a strained
relationship with his father are merely miniscule problems compared to the
major calamity that lies ahead.
After Luis
disappears, people outside the Carter family begin to vanish seemingly at
random. The river turns crimson, dyed with the blood of its victims. Suspicion
cuts through the air, creating a rift between friends and lovers. Distrust
erupts even amongst loved ones. After all, everyone has a dark side, it’s only
a matter of time before the mask slips and eventually breaks.
